In fifth year of the International Economics Olympiad, overall 38,000 students participated in school rounds in 7 countries around the world.

After 2 years of online events, students and organizers were finally able to meet in person in Budapest, Hungary, where the fourth International final round was held from 6th September till 9th September 2022.

The best students from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina and China competed in written exam and the top 10 students then advanced to the oral exam, where they tested their knowledge and presentation skills in front of the jury.

The 2022 International Final was organized by INEV and MKT and supported by the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, the Central Bank of Hungary, Hungarian Money Museum and Visitor Center, MNB-EduLab, Pénziránytű Alapítvány, PaBooks and Corvinus University of Budapest.

The International Economics Olympiad is financially supported by the Visegrad Fund.

It might seem crazy that we would introduce the Economics Olympiad to Ukraine during a full-scale war. But it was the right move, to show schoolchildren and their teachers that education is still a priority and extra effort will get rewarded, despite missiles and drones flying around. If heavy bombings, blackouts, bomb shelters and air raid alerts did not prevent more than 4,300 schoolchildren from all over the country from participating in the School Round, we owe it to them to keep this project going. Especially after all of the participants of the National Round stating their level of economic thinking improved because of the Olympiad.
